Ingredients
- 300 g duck breast
- 1 tsp five-spice
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp erythritol
- 3 cloves garlic
Method
- Combine soy sauce, erythritol, five-spice, and minced garlic in a bowl to create the char siu marinade.
- Score the duck breast skin in a crosshatch pattern, then submerge it in the marinade and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat an oven-safe pan over medium-high heat, place the duck breast skin-side down, and sear for 6 minutes until the skin is golden and crisp.
- Flip the duck breast, brush generously with the remaining marinade, and transfer the pan to an oven preheated to 200°C (400°F).
- Roast the duck breast for 25 minutes, brushing with marinade once halfway through, until the glaze is deeply caramelized and the meat is cooked through.
- Transfer the duck breast to a cutting board, rest for 5 minutes, then slice against the grain and serve with any remaining pan juices drizzled over the top.
