Ingredients

  • 2 stalks celery
  • 300 g beef cubes
  • 50 g carrots
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 (juiced) lemon
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Method

  1. Heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat and sear the beef cubes for about 5 minutes, turning them until browned on all sides.
  2. Add the chopped celery stalks and sliced carrots to the pot and stir to combine with the beef cubes.
  3. Pour in enough water to just cover the ingredients, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer covered for approximately 25 minutes until the beef is tender and the vegetables are soft.
  4. Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice during the final 2 minutes of cooking to brighten the dish with its characteristic Turkish tang.
  5. Remove the pot from the heat, let it rest for 3 minutes, then serve the etli kereviz warm directly from the pot.
