Ingredients
- 300 g beef cubes
- 50 g lentils (small portion)
- 2 medium tomato
- 1 small onion
- 2 pieces pepper
Method
- Heat a heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat and sear the beef cubes for about 5 minutes until browned on all sides, developing a deep, rich color.
- Add the chopped onion and sliced pepper to the pot and cook together with the beef for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally to soften the vegetables.
- Stir in the diced tomato and cook for another 3 minutes until the tomatoes begin to break down and release their juices, forming a rustic base.
- Rinse the lentils and add them to the pot, then pour in enough water to cover all ingredients and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer gently for approximately 35 minutes until the beef cubes are tender and the lentils have softened into the broth.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper before serving the dish hot directly from the pot.
