Ingredients

  • 300 g beef cubes
  • 50 g lentils (small portion)
  • 2 medium tomato
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 pieces pepper

Method

  1. Heat a heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat and sear the beef cubes for about 5 minutes until browned on all sides, developing a deep, rich color.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sliced pepper to the pot and cook together with the beef for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally to soften the vegetables.
  3. Stir in the diced tomato and cook for another 3 minutes until the tomatoes begin to break down and release their juices, forming a rustic base.
  4. Rinse the lentils and add them to the pot, then pour in enough water to cover all ingredients and bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer gently for approximately 35 minutes until the beef cubes are tender and the lentils have softened into the broth.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper before serving the dish hot directly from the pot.
