Ingredients
- 50 g green lentils (small portion)
- 300 g ground meat
- 1 small onion
- 2 pieces stuffed peppers
- 2 medium tomato sauce
Method
- Rinse the 50 g of green lentils under cold water and set aside to drain while you prepare the remaining ingredients.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the 300 g of ground meat, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 8 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and the drained green lentils, reduce the heat to medium, and simmer the mixture for 10 minutes until the lentils begin to soften and the sauce thickens.
- While the filling simmers, prepare the 2 stuffed peppers by carefully hollowing them out if not already done, ensuring a cavity large enough to hold the meat and lentil mixture.
- Spoon the ground meat and lentil filling evenly into each stuffed pepper, pressing gently to pack the filling.
- Arrange the filled peppers in a baking dish, spoon any remaining tomato sauce over the top, and bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for 12 minutes until the peppers are tender and the filling is set.
- Remove from the oven and allow the stuffed peppers to rest for 2 minutes before serving hot.
