Ingredients
- 50 g red lentils (small portion)
- 300 g ground meat
- 2 medium tomato
- 1 small onion
- 1 tbsp mint
- 1 (juiced) lemon
Method
- In a medium pot over medium heat, cook the ground meat for about 8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned and no longer pink.
- Add the diced tomato and chopped onion to the pot and stir well, cooking for another 5 minutes until the tomatoes begin to soften and release their juices.
- Rinse the red lentils thoroughly, then add them to the pot along with enough water to cover all ingredients generously, bringing the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer the soup for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lentils are fully softened and the soup reaches a thick, hearty consistency.
- Remove the pot from heat, stir in the fresh lemon juice and dried mint, and let the soup rest for 2 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
