Ingredients

  • 50 g red lentils (small portion)
  • 300 g ground meat
  • 2 medium tomato
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 tbsp mint
  • 1 (juiced) lemon

Method

  1. In a medium pot over medium heat, cook the ground meat for about 8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned and no longer pink.
  2. Add the diced tomato and chopped onion to the pot and stir well, cooking for another 5 minutes until the tomatoes begin to soften and release their juices.
  3. Rinse the red lentils thoroughly, then add them to the pot along with enough water to cover all ingredients generously, bringing the mixture to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the soup for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lentils are fully softened and the soup reaches a thick, hearty consistency.
  5. Remove the pot from heat, stir in the fresh lemon juice and dried mint, and let the soup rest for 2 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
