Ingredients
- 300 g beef
- 100 g tofu
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 small scallions
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Method
- Slice the beef into thin strips and cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes, then set both aside while you prepare the remaining ingredients.
- In a large skillet or shallow pot over medium-high heat, sear the beef strips for about 5 minutes until browned on all sides.
- Add the soy sauce and ginger to the pan, stirring to coat the beef evenly and allow the flavors to develop for 2 minutes.
- Gently nestle the tofu cubes into the pan among the beef, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer everything together for 35 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the savory braising liquid.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional soy sauce if needed during the final minutes of simmering.
- Transfer the niku tofu to a serving dish, then garnish with thinly sliced scallions and a generous sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.
