Ingredients

  • 300 g chicken
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 medium tomato
  • 2 pieces pepper
  • 1 (juiced) lemon
  • 1 cup lettuce wraps
  • 1 tsp sumac

Method

  1. Slice the chicken into thin strips and season with sumac, then set aside to marinate for 10 minutes while you prepare the remaining ingredients.
  2. Dice the tomatoes and pepper into small pieces and combine them in a bowl with the lemon juice to create a fresh relish.
  3. Heat a wide, heavy pan or sac over high heat until very hot, then add the chicken strips and cook, stirring and pressing them against the surface for 35–40 minutes total until the meat is deeply caramelized and cooked through.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes and pepper to the pan with the chicken and toss everything together over high heat for the final 1 minute to meld the flavors.
  5. Remove the pan from the heat and squeeze any remaining lemon juice over the chicken mixture to finish.
  6. Spoon the hot tavuk tantuni filling into the lettuce wraps and serve immediately.
