Ingredients

  • 300 g beef cubes
  • 2 pieces pickled peppers
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 pieces red pepper flakes

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a heavy-bottomed pan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until it begins to foam.
  2. Add the beef cubes to the pan and sear them on all sides for approximately 5 minutes until a deep brown crust forms.
  3. Crush the garlic cloves and add them to the pan along with the red pepper flakes, stirring to coat the beef and allow the aromatics to bloom for 2 minutes.
  4. Slice the pickled peppers and add them to the pan, then reduce the heat to low and pour in just enough of the pickling brine to partially submerge the beef.
  5. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and braise the beef over low heat for 25 minutes, turning the cubes halfway through, until the meat is tender and the liquid has reduced to a rich sauce.
