Ingredients

  • 300 g dried beef
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion
  • 3 cloves garlic

Method

  1. Rinse the dried beef thoroughly under cold running water for several minutes to remove excess salt, then soak it in fresh water for 20 minutes during the prep time.
  2. Remove the dried beef from the water, pat it completely dry with paper towels, and cut it into even portions or strips suitable for pan-frying.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat until it begins to foam, then add the dried beef pieces.
  4. Sear the dried beef for approximately 10 to 12 minutes, turning occasionally, until each side develops a deep golden-brown crust.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan, and allow it to melt and baste the beef for a further 10 to 11 minutes until the meat is cooked through and richly caramelized.
  6. Transfer the beef to a serving plate and spoon the remaining butter pan juices directly over the top before serving.
