Ingredients
- 300 g dried beef
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion
- 3 cloves garlic
Method
- Rinse the dried beef thoroughly under cold running water for several minutes to remove excess salt, then soak it in fresh water for 20 minutes during the prep time.
- Remove the dried beef from the water, pat it completely dry with paper towels, and cut it into even portions or strips suitable for pan-frying.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat until it begins to foam, then add the dried beef pieces.
- Sear the dried beef for approximately 10 to 12 minutes, turning occasionally, until each side develops a deep golden-brown crust.
- Reduce the heat to medium, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan, and allow it to melt and baste the beef for a further 10 to 11 minutes until the meat is cooked through and richly caramelized.
- Transfer the beef to a serving plate and spoon the remaining butter pan juices directly over the top before serving.
