Ingredients

  • 2 slices Almond flour bread
  • 3 slices (1.5 oz) Black Forest ham
  • 1/3 cup (40g) Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • pinch Nutmeg, freshly grated
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

  1. Make bechamel: melt butter in a small saucepan, whisk in cream cheese, then heavy cream. Simmer 2 minutes until thick. Stir in nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Spread dijon on bread slices. Layer ham and half the gruyère between them.
  3. Place sandwich on a baking sheet. Spoon bechamel over the top; sprinkle remaining gruyère.
  4. Broil 4-5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  5. Slice and serve hot.
