Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup (160g) Full-fat plain Turkish or Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) Cold water
  • 1/4 tsp Fine sea salt
  • pinch Dried mint (optional)
  • 3-4 Ice cubes

Method

  1. Add the yogurt, cold water, and salt to a tall glass or blender.
  2. Whisk hard for 30 seconds (or pulse in the blender for 10 seconds) until completely smooth and a layer of foam forms on top.
  3. Taste and adjust salt — Turkish ayran is meant to be properly salty, not just a hint.
  4. Drop in the ice cubes.
  5. Sprinkle with dried mint if using and serve immediately.
